How this is built
Every figure is taken from the city that published it and carries the date we checked. Industry guides round these numbers and get them wrong — one widely-repeated guide puts Austin’s licence at “$700+”; the city’s own page says $836.30, and renewal is $385.30.
Where a figure has not been verified against the city, it is shown as not verified and left out of the total rather than quietly counted as zero. A total that is confidently wrong is worse than a total with a hole in it.
